Booking your flight to Stockholm

We advise you to book your flight to either Arlanda International Airport (ARN) or Stockholm Bromma Airport (BMA). Both airports receive direct flights from several European cities including Paris, London, and Frankfurt. Please note the conference will start at 8:30am on October 4 and end at 6pm on October 5.

How to get to the Conference Venue (Vår Gård)?

The conference will take place at the r Gård Saltsjöbaden, located at Ringvägen 6, 133 80 Saltsjöbaden.

You will first need to go to the city center of Stockholm:

From Arlanda International Airport: you can either use the high-speed rail service, ArlandaExpress, to Stockholm Central Station or the Flygbussarna bus to Stockholm City Terminal.

From Bromma airport: take the Flygbussarna bus to Stockholm City Terminal.

Once arrived in Stockholm, you can take public transport to Vår Gård. Public transport tickets can be purchased at convenience stores (Pressbyrån and 7 Eleven). Take the subway (T-bana) to Slussen, and change there to Bus 25M which will take you to Saltsjöbaden where Vår Gård is located. Information on rail fares and schedules can be found here.

On October 3, two conference buses will also be available from the Stockholm Central Station and City Terminal directly to Vår Gård, at 13:00 and 18:00. Those buses will be waiting right outside the Radisson Blu Royal Viking Hotel located on Vasagatan 1. Those buses will have a sign indicating “RRI Land Rights Conference” and the company’s name is Interbus.

Return buses will leave from Vår Gård to Stockholm Central Station at 18:00 on October 5.

Accomodations

Below you’ll find a list of the room rates at Vår Gård, the rates include breakfast.

  • SEK 2170 (US$252) + VAT (12%) / per night for a shared double room
  • SEK 1385 (US$162) + VAT (12%) / per night for a single room
  • If you are arriving at Vår Gård the night of Oct. 3rd, you can request dinner served between 18:00 and 20:00 at a cost of approximately 125 SEK / 15 USD. Please do so when you book your hotel room.

Meals

You will be provided the following meals during the conference:

  • Oct. 4th: Lunch, dinner, coffee breaks
  • Oct. 5th: Lunch, coffee breaks

Visas

A list of foreign citizens requiring a visa to enter Sweden can be found here. If you need a visa and have not yet filled out this form, please do so at your earliest convenience, noting that the visa process can take up to a month.

Weather

September/October temperatures in Sweden range from 5° C (40° F) to 12° C (55° F). Be sure to bring warm clothes and a rain jacket.

Tipping

Gratuity for services provided is already included in hotels, restaurants, and taxi bills. For special services, a small tip is of course welcome.

Time zone

Central European time (GMT + 1 hour), summertime (+ 1 hour) end of March to end of October.

Language

Sweden is located in Scandinavia. Though its predominant language is Swedish, many people speak English, Spanish, and French.

Banks/money exchange/credit cards

Stockholm has many banks able to exchange money. At both the airport and main rail station money can be exchanged for a nominal fee. Most hotels also exchange money, but usually at higher rates. Credit cards (Visa, Master/Eurocard, and American Express) are generally accepted in most hotels, restaurants and shops.

Opening times of banks: 8 am – 12 pm / 1:30 pm – 5 pm (Monday – Friday)

Exchange offices at the stations are open until 8 pm.
